Color Fringing RX

The Color Fringing RX Plugin was designed to reduce and in most cases remove unwanted “Color Fringing” from digital files.

Color fringing is also known as, Chromatic aberration. It is caused by the camera lens not focusing different wavelengths of light onto the exact same focal plane and/or by the lens magnifying different wavelengths differently. These types of chromatic aberration are referred to as Longitudinal and Lateral Chromatic Aberration and can occur at the same time.
Chromatic aberration is known as color fringing when it is visible around areas of contrast. It frequently occurs around the edges of the image frame in wide-angle shots. Since edges are the most affected areas, Color Fringing RX will first scan areas of high contrast in the edges and then throughout the image frame to surgically reduce all types of color aberration.

The Color Fringing RX plugin also reduces chromatic aberration at microlens level , which in simple terms is “purple fringing”. Unlike typical edge-only chromatic aberration, purple fringing is caused by the microlenses, and is visible throughout the image frame. Areas of high contrast around the edges suffer the most, especially when the subject is illuminated from behind.

Overview

LightMachine corrects brightness, contrast, color and saturation in specific image areas independently from each other. It basically consists of four different filters each split up into a simple mode suitable for beginners and a Pro mode with more features for more flexibility. The Brightness/Contrast modes adjust brightness and contrast throughout the image which is nice as a starting point. The Shadows/Highlights modes give you complete control over dark and bright image areas and let you correct them completely independently from each other with the help of sophisticated masking options. The Virtual Studio modes allow you to place an unlimited number of shadow and light spots as if you were placing studio lights in a real photo studio. The intensity, size, ovality, angle, hardness and reflection properties of each spot can be adjusted precisely. Finally, the Colors modes let you selectively correct image objects of a specific color by clicking on them.

ContrastMaster

Overview

ContrastMaster offers three local and four global contrast adjustment methods as well as various masking, saturation and brightness options. The three local adjustment methods allow you to dramatically improve contrast in small image details without blowing out highlights or damaging the image. You can apply these three methods separately or use various options to mix them together for even better results.

The four global methods (S/H-Contrast, Stretch, Equalize and Polarize) work on the tonal range of the image and help to improve the result even further. There is also an option for changing the brightness of the image. The masking options let you conveniently remove the ContrastMaster effect from an image area where you do not want to have it applied, e.g. skin areas, a blue sky or a wall. This can be done with the help of shadow/highlight and color masking options. Additionally, a saturation mask feature lets you improve saturation without oversaturating the image.

PhotoFreebies

PhotoFreebies is a collection of free plugins for performing useful photo manipulations and effects e.g. sepia effects, saturation gradients, b/w conversion, color space transformations and many more. Some of them have a dialog with adjustable controls whereas others are applied instantly without displaying a dialog.

PhotoFreebies works in dozens of graphics applications including Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop Elements, PhotoPlus, Photo-Paint, IrfanView and PhotoImpact under Windows and MacOS X. The plugins also run natively in Photoshop CS3/CS4 on Intel-Macs. There is also a 64bit version for the 64bit version of Photoshop CS4 for Windows. The Windows version supports 8bit and 16bit RGB images whereas the Mac version only supports 8bit RGB images. Additionally the Mac version does not contain the RGB2HSL, HSL2RGB and Color Blind plugins.

To celebrate the success of our PhotoWiz product series we decided to publish the free PhotoFreebies. Our intention was to create small and easy-to-use utilities for image manipulation. They are not as feature-rich as our other PhotoWiz products, which were engineered for special photo correction tasks. The PhotoFreebies produce more general effects that are needed from time to time and are only inconveniently reproducible in common graphics tools. The PhotoFreebies also include effects which are less suitable for commercial products, but nevertheless useful. Additionally you will also find some features of our other PhotoWiz products in a more simplified form in the PhotoFreebies collection. The PhotoFreebies collection will of course be expanded with even more useful plugins in future.

Plugins Descriptions:B/W: Offers seven methods for removing the color from images and achieving a grayscaled look.

Color Blind (Windows only): Simulates red/green color blindness. It can also be used for special effects.

Chroma Negative: Inverts the colors without making the image a negative. Has a dialog with a blend slider.

Desaturation Gradient: Gradually desaturates the image in four possible directions.

Histo Fix: It fixes a chopped histogram by interpolating lost image information. You can regain 1/2 bit, 1 bit or 2 bit of image information. Works only on 8bit images, because 16bit images do not have this problem.

Luma Negative: Turns the image into a negative without changing the colors. Has a dialog with a blend slider.

RGB2HSL and HSL2RGB (Windows only): The RGB2HSL plugin converts the RGB channels into HSL channels without leaving RGB mode. This allows you to manipulate the HSL channels. The Hue component occupies the R channel, the Saturation component is in the G channel and the Lightness is placed in the B channel. The other plugin converts the HSL channels back to RGB. No Dialog.

RGB2YCC and YCC2RGB: The RGB2YCC plugin converts the RGB channels into YCC channels without leaving RGB mode. This allows you to manipulate the YCC channels. The Y-Luminosity component occupies the R channel and the two Chroma components are in the G and B channels. The other plugin converts the YCC channels back to RGB. No Dialog.

Remove Transparency: Makes a transparent layer fully opaque. No Dialog.

Sepia: Lets you apply uniform or colored sepia effects. Includes three controls. A sepia effect of this quality isn’t that easy to achieve in Photoshop or PSP.

EZ Mask

EZ Mask is an easy to use interactive image masking tool capable of extracting almost any object in an image–even if you are dealing with fine hair detail, smoke, or reflections. This extraction process creates what is known as a mask–essentially a black and white cutout. White mask areas are extracted, black areas not, and gray areas in between represent a level of transparency.
