HARMAN REDUCES PRICE OF FIBER BASE INKJET PAPERS BY 35%
07th February 2009
Press Release:
HARMAN technology Limited, the company born out of the analog side of ILFORD IMAGING in 2005, has reduced the price of its HARMAN PHOTO fiber base inkjet papers in the US by 35%. The manufacturer attributes the reduction to the success of these products both in North America and throughout the wider world, which in turn has led to increased manufacturing volumes and lower production costs per unit. The business is now passing these savings onto customers as a thank you for their loyalty and recognizing the financial challenges faced by photographers in the current economic climate.
Director of Marketing at HARMAN technology, Steven Brierley, explains: “Since their introduction, the HARMAN PHOTO fiber base papers have gone from strength to strength. By drawing on the same expertise used to manufacture ILFORD darkroom products for 130 years and the same fiber base and coating technology as products like ILFORD MULTIGRADE IV FB FIBER, we have developed an inkjet range with a true photo-imaging pedigree and that’s proving increasingly popular with photographers across the world.
“Thanks to this growing popularity, we now find ourselves in a situation where greater production volumes have resulted in increased economies of scale. Being a manufacturer with an ethical approach, we felt it only right to pass the benefits of this on to the people that matter the most – the individuals who actually use our products.â€
The price reduction, which is implemented with immediate effect, applies to all four of the HARMAN PHOTO fiber base papers – the GLOSS FB Al, MATT FB Mp, GLOSS FB Al WARMTONE and MATT FB Mp WARMTONE – and to both cut sheet and roll sizes. This will make it more affordable than ever for photographers to use the high-end papers, which boast a rich array of features.
In fact, all four products utilize real photo Baryta, which is normally applied to the fiber base of traditional photographic papers prior to their coating with emulsion layers because it ensures greater detail and definition, an extended tonal range (with whiter whites and deeper blacks) and superb archival properties. They also benefit from proprietary anti-curl technology specially developed by HARMAN to ensure the papers lie completely flat, before and after printing.
In addition, the HARMAN PHOTO fiber inkjet papers are instant dry and offer superb results with all leading pigment and dye based printers. They also enjoy the look and feel of a traditional darkroom print thanks to their fiber base and 320gsm weight. Plus, all four papers have recently been certified by Wilhelm Imaging Research (WIR) - the world’s foremost authority on image permanence.
Summing up, Steven Brierley adds: “We’re delighted with the success of the HARMAN PHOTO fiber base range and by the fact that we can now pass on the dividends of that success to the end-user. They truly are exceptional products - and now they’re available at an equally exceptional price.â€
