Steadicam Experts Release New How-To Handbook
01st May 2009
Press Release:
Hauppauge, NY – April 22, 2009 — The Tiffen Company, a Long Island based leading manufacturer and distributor of photographic, motion picture and Broadcast equipment, including its Steadicam Camera Stabilizing Systems, announced the release of a new instructional book called “The Steadicam Operator’s Handbook,” published by Focal Press.
The comprehensive book on how to operate the company’s award-winning Steadicam systems was written by expert operators, Jerry Holway and co-author Laurie Hayball and contains detailed information on using a Steadicam rig, as well as how to improve performance. The book will normally sell for $49.95, but is currently being offered at www.tiffen.com for an introductory offer of $44.95 with free shipping within the continental United States.
“We move from the physics and balancing of a Steadicam, through a series of step-by-step line dances and practice shots, to the most personal aspects of filmmaking – how individual operators make creative and practical decisions using this unique camera setup,” said Holway. The book illuminates all aspects of Steadicam operating in one comprehensive package. With over 1300 full-color photos, it is the comprehensive how-to and why-to book for the amateur, semi-pro, and professional.
“We discuss the wide array of equipment and accessories that are available, and illustrate the latest operating techniques and tricks,” said Hayball. A variety of strategies for working with others, and the business side of a Steadicam career are also included, commented Hayball. Legendary inventor of the Steadicam, Garrett Brown has also contributed to this handbook with some inspirational, funny, instructive and cautionary comments.
“The Steadicam Operator’s Handbook” is both a master class and a master reference for all camera operators and directors who want to move the camera well. For more information visit http://www.tiffen.com/holway_hayball_steadicam_book.html.
