Itâs the final chance for students to get their digital photography juices flowing and enter HARMAN technologyâs 2009 Student Competition, as the deadline for entries is drawing to a close.
The competition is in association with the manufacturerâs digital inkjet brand, HARMAN PHOTO and designed especially for students residing in USA and Canada. Fujifilm to Host Underwater Photo Festival

Fujifilm UK Ltd. is pleased to announce their first ever underwater photo festival; ScubaSnap Weekend 2009. The festival will take place in Looe, Cornwall on the 12th and 13th September and is guaranteed to be a weekend of fun, diving and underwater photography in the wonderful surroundings of the Cornish coast and countryside.
In association with local dive operators Looe Divers, the weekend will include shore diving, photographic tuition and seminars from industry experts such as Mat Trim of Fujifilm and Maria Munn of Ocean Visions, photo competitions, with some fabulous prizes to be won, and a dinner dive and BBQ in the evening.

New York, 19 June, 2009 -The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with Olympus Corporation and the Agence France-Presse (AFP) Foundation, launched an Africa-based, eco-themed photo contest today in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The contest, titled “Picture This: Caring for the Earth,” aims to profile ordinary people working to reduce the effects of climate change in their countries, cities and communities and is open to anyone residing in Africa.Entries -either single photos or photo essays- must highlight stories that show the people of Africa as stewards of their natural environment. Special attention will be given to photos that take into account the role that women play in protecting their environment. In order to make the contest accessible to all, UNDP along with the AFP Foundation and Olympus is mobilizing all of its social networks, websites and country offices to spread the word across the continent.
“Not only do people in the developing world stand to lose the most from the effects of climate and environmental degradation but they also know the most about what is happening to the natural resources and environment that they depend on for their health, livelihoods and survival,” said Helen Clark, UNDP Administrator, at the contest launch.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (March 22, 2009) â Judges starting picking winners in several categories of the National Press Photographers Association’s 2009 Best Of Photojournalism competition at the contest’s host site at The Poynter Institute for Media Studies on Sunday.
This year 3,700 journalists from 147 countries submitted 53,000 still images, video, and Web entries in the 2009 Best Of Photojournalism competition.
On their first day of viewing entries and picking winners the judges made selections in the categories of Sports Action, Sports Feature, The Art of Entertainment, Conceptual Photographic Illustration, Olympics Action, Olympics Feature, Natural Environment, and Sports Picture Story.
