Release of Software Application that Enables my Picturetown Use with iPhone

Nikon Corporation (Michio Kariya, President) is pleased to announce that a dedicated application, developed by Nikon for accessing and using Nikon’s photo storage and sharing site, my Picturetown, from Apple Inc.’s cellular iPhone, was released on December 23, 2008. This application will be available, free of charge, for download from Apple’s iTunes App Store.
Nikon’s photo storage and sharing site, my Picturetown, developed as a service to allow photographers to enjoy their photos anywhere and anytime, allows for the upload of photos from cameras or computers as well as the browsing and viewing of uploaded photos from computers and cellular telephones. Release of this iPhone application offers a new image browsing environment for cellular devices.
Major features
In addition to viewing photos they have uploaded, whether individually or by album, my Picturetown members can perform a number of operations using the iPhone touch panel, including moving photos and rotating photo display by rotating the iPhone itself. In addition, photos taken with the iPhone can be uploaded to my Picturetown.

Changes in Windows version
1) Image white balance adjustment now supports images captured with the D300, firmware Ver. 1.10, at white balance settings of Auto or Flash when optional Speedlights, such as the SB-900, with color filters attached are used.
2) Image Dust Off reference photos acquired with the D3 and D300 are now applied more effectively.
Changes in Macintosh version
1) Support for Mac OS X (Leopard) version 10.5.4 has been added.

About this firmware update
This service provides software for upgrading D300 firmware to v1.10. When performing this firmware upgrade, be sure to upgrade both A and B firmware. Be aware that operation of your D300 is not guaranteed if either A or B firmware is upgraded while the other firmware is not upgraded.

Firmware update from Nikon, Canon and Olympus

Nikon D80 Firmware update:
This service provides software for upgrading D80 A and B firmware to Ver 1.11. When performing this firmware upgrade, be sure to upgrade both A and B firmware. Correct operation of your camera is not guaranteed if only A or B of the firmware is upgraded without upgrading the other part.
This firmware resolves an issue which, in rare cases, causes the battery indicator to blink whilst shooting regardless of the level of charge in the battery.

AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G

TOKYO – Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce the introduction of the 50mm single-focal-length lens AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G (when attached to a DX-format SLR, picture angle is equivalent to a focal length of 75mm in FX/35mm format).
This latest addition to the NIKKOR lineup features a large maximum aperture of f/1.4, enabling it to be used for easy handheld shooting in dark settings, such as a dimly lit room. It also allows photographers to easily create beautiful large blur effects. The lens’ Silent Wave Motor (SWM) ensures quick, quiet autofocus. Autofocus shooting is made possible with SLR models that do not have a built-in motor, such as the D40 series and D60.

NIKKOR SLR Lenses — 45 Million and Counting

Tokyo — Nikon Corporation is pleased to announce that production of our NIKKOR SLR interchangeable lenses has now surpassed the 45 million mark.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of NIKKOR lenses, used by photo enthusiasts and professionals throughout the world, and last month (August), Nikon announced that production had reached 45 million units. Indeed, sales are expanding so rapidly that Nikon added five million lenses of that total since 2007.
